The LiteLight is the direct outcome of John J. Morgan's almost 40 years of design, fabrication and maintenance of photographic electronic equipment. After "shooting his way through" Georgia Tech, John began designing photographic equipment based not on what he thought photographers needed, but on what they really did need. One of his first ventures was the development of the PhotoComp lighting system which he designed for long-roll school photographers and which featured variable outputs to each flash head as well as user-changeable circuit boards. John's early interest in electronic flash and an early relationship with Balcar, led to John Morgan Electronics, which has been in business since 1972. Since then, thousands of photographers nationwide have relied on him to maintain all varieties of strobe equipment (And solve equipment problems over the phone, on long distance, and directly from the jobsite on many occasions!) and to provide modifications to existing gear. Photographers began needing smaller, more compact, and lightweight equipment (And John tired of physically cutting down flash heads and reflectors and removing fan units to lighten equipment cases!) as they moved out of the studios and into the era of location photography. They also needed one head type to do all the jobs they were hired to do. John Morgan's experience with various power supplies and with the demands placed on light heads by photographers led to the creation of the first LiteLight. They are available to fit almost all existing power supplies and are exceptionally durable as all critical electronics are sealed within the high density plastic case. LiteLights were initially sold as add-on bare tube units; later modeling lamp capability was added; and later a full line of photographer-friendly accessories was developed. The outcome is today's LiteLight---truly photographic lighting for the 21st Century!
